Selena Gomez is a shy teenager trudging through a day of high school in her new music video for “Bad Liar” — as well as the character’s stay-at-home mother, and the teen’s schoolteacher father, and even the flirtatious parent who hits on Dad.
Need to run through that again?
The Revival singer takes on a quartet of interacting roles in an eerie but mesmerizing new video for the Talking Heads-interpolating track, which plays on the unspoken desires on the part of all four characters. Behind the camera is director (and Lemonheads bassist) Jesse Peretz, more recently of Girls and Orange Is The New Black TV-helming fame.
The video closes with a teaser for a project called “Fetish” coming soon, accompanied by a short clip of a solemn-looking Gomez staring into the camera lens before miming the world with her lips.
Billed as a “film” in its promotional poster, the new visual marks the second video offering tied to the steamy pop track. Back in May, Gomez released a vertical video for the song exclusively on Spotify, watchable only through smartphones.
